LIVE zoom workshop 4th Feb 2.30pm - 4pm UK time (GMT) 9.30am EST
Do you want to learn or practice your watercolour techniques and explore Minimalist Landscape paintings at the same time?
Minimalist one colour paintings really bring out the beauty of watercolour and I think they are a great way to practice some techniques and get used to the medium. Or simply explore new ways of seeing your paintings if you are more experienced but have a completely different style. I have made several videos on Minimalist Watercolour Paintings on my You Tube Channel. The playlist can be found here:
We will start off with a discussion on what makes a successful minimalist painting and then get stuck into doing our own. We will cover as many examples as possible in the session but you can go at your own pace.
No need for a zoom account, you will be emailed a link prior to the session.
Here is a list of materials you will need, prior to the workshop I will send another email reminder with the same list:
1) Some good quality watercolour paper (or two sketchbooks) APPROX 9” x 6”.
I use Arches cold pressed fine grain paper but any medium/ fine textured paper is fine.
2) A small and a medium sized watercolour brush.
3) Low tack masking tape (optional)
3) Fine blade/ scalpel (optional)
6) Watercolour colours:
Any dark blues - paynes grey/ indigo blue. Plus a lighter blue like cobalt if you have it.
If we have time we will explore other colours, and you are welcome to use a completely different colour palette if you prefer.
You can turn on your camera or not whichever works for you. I will be delighted to receive any images of artwork via email after the workshop ends along with any questions you might have. I will also be giving feedback during the workshop to anyone who wants to share their work during the session.
The session will be recorded so you can watch it back. It will not be shared on social media or anyone else outside of the workshop.
Maximum 6 people.
